The JSRA was formed in 1949, as the governing body for squash in Jersey with an aim to promote the game of squash within the community, making this great game accessible to as many people as possible and look after the best interests of existing squash players.
To stimulate growth, a staged development programme was introduced in 2004; the success of this programme prompted the appointment of a full time Director of Squash in November 2007, in the form of Nick Taylor. The sport has since enjoyed rapid growth in interest and player numbers and is entering an exciting new stage in its development.
Squash now forms part of many schools learning curriculum with numerous after school programmes in place, a junior league and an elite junior academy. At senior level squad development programmes helped contribute to recent success at the 2011 Natwest Island Games in the Isle of Wight. There are also opportunities to compete in off island competitons, coach education and mentoring programmes and racketball development.
The JSRA is thankful to its many partners in this programme and hopes to repay them by producing the most successful period of growth for squash in Jersey's history.
